Yet Another Update!
Today I had to go see my new primary care doctor, since my former doctor is leaving his practice and starting something new. I needed to go in today to get a prescription, and because they wouldn't just give it to me without seeing me.
Anyways, we were talking about everything going on with my headaches and all, and she asked if I had been to the headache center in Salem( VA, about 40 minutes north of here)...
Me: "Umm, I didn't know one existed around here.... never heard of it in any of my research, nor has anyone ever mentioned it to me."
Her: "Well I'm pretty sure there's one in Salem.... let me go check and make sure."
So she leaves for a few minutes and then comes back.... "yeah, there's one there.... would you like to give it a shot?"
Me: "Indeed.... that would save me about 6 and a half hours driving time going there instead of the one in Philly."
So they called, and yeah, they can get me in.... This coming Wednesday! Not only is it saving my drive to PA, but it's also a month earlier than the other appointment! Maybe this place is new, and that's why I've never heard of it, but this is definitely a blessing from God. Lately pain meds haven't been helping my headaches, even my Lortabs have lost their effect.... so I had to call my neurologist yesterday and request something else just to get thru the day..... I have yet to try the new stuff, Ultram, but I'm hoping it'll knock the pain out some.
So far I'm going to keep the appt. in PA just in case things don't work out down here.... but I'm praying they do!

Jefferson
Just thought I'd update you all.... Jefferson Headache Center in Philly called me today, and I now have an appointment there for November 5th.... yeah, my wedding anniversary...... but maybe this place is a gift for both of us if they can get rid of my headaches. Anyways, the first visit they said I'll just be evaluated by the neurologist, and a psychologist and then we'll set up stuff from there as to whether I'll have to come back for a stay or not. The whole process on the first day will take about 4-6 hours. Anyways... that's about it for now.....

Headache Plan Update
It's been a couple weeks since I've updated y'all on what's happening with my headaches. I think the last time I wrote about them, I'd just gotten home from Hershey, PA after spending 3 days in the hospital getting an IV infusion of the drug DHE. They sent me home, and doubled my dose of Neurontin and told me to try that for 2-3 weeks.
Well it's been 2 weeks, and so far my headaches haven't gotten better. I did have a couple days with only a few headache pains, but overall things have actually been worse. I've had to take Lortabs several times because OTC meds and my migraine meds didn't ease the pain. I also ended up in the Emergency Room last Friday night from a terrible migraine, and had to be given 2 doses each of morphine and Phenergan to ease my pain and vomitting.
Today I called my doctor (or her nurse at least) at Hershey and told them how things have been going. Well they called me back and said that they're going to change my medicine from Neurontin to Lyrica. Also my doctor said that she's considering sending me to Jefferson Headache Clinic, to which I replied..... LET'S DO IT...... I told her anything that might help, so that I can get back to work, we need to do it. So they should be setting me up with an appointment there..... I don't know exactly what going there entails(is that the right word here?). It may mean staying there for a bit.... who knows. But I know that God is in control.
I will let you know more when I hear something.

Today's post I just want to share the lyrics to a song that was playing on our drive back from PA this past weekend.... and it's been playing in my head since then. It's by Casting Crowns and it's called "Praise You in this Storm".
"I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls I barely hear Your whisper through the rain"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You
As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord The Maker of Heaven and Earth"
